Conhecida por sua imensa paixão pelo futebol, a torcida paraense costuma lotar o Estádio Olímpico do Pará, o popular Mangueirão, especialmente nos dias em que o tradicional estádio recebe o “Clássico Rei da Amazônia” – duelo entre Remo e Paysandu, as duas maiores forças do futebol da Região Norte do Brasil.
Inaugurado em 1978, o estádio que já recebeu quatro jogos da Seleção Brasileira, irá agora passar por uma completa modernização que ampliará sua capacidade dos atuais 35 mil para mais de 53 mil pessoas, que o devolverá a posição de maior palco de futebol da Região Norte.
O projeto da Secretaria Estadual de Desenvolvimento Urbano e Obras Públicas – SEDOP do Governo do Pará incluirá um novo sistema de iluminação, drenagem e gramado nos padrões exigidos pela FIFA. A reforma contemplará ainda a melhoria dos acessos e diversas intervenções para ampliação do conforto e da segurança do público.
Sustentabilidade em campo
O projeto de Modernização associa a preservação das suas tradicionais características arquitetônicas com as mais modernas soluções de Sustentabilidade que incluem sistemas de captação e reaproveitamento de água da chuva e a autoprodução de energia limpa e renovável.
A cargo da SDB Energia Solar, a Usina Solar do Mangueirão terá + 2.500 módulos fotovoltaicos capazes de produzir mais de 1,6 milhões de kWh por ano. Conectada a rede de distribuição local, a usina do Mangueirão ira contribuir com a redução de mais de 5 mil toneladas de CO2 na atmosfera ao longo de 25 anos, o equivalente ao plantio de mais de 20 mil árvores.

Com prazo de 18 meses, as obras já foram iniciadas pelo Consórcio Obras Mangueirão, formado pela MRM, OCC e a SDB. A previsão é de que o Novo Mangueirão seja inaugurado em meados de 2022.
